Background and Rationale
African Christianity has generally made decisive contributions to theology, mission, education, leadership, and social transformation. African Pentecostal and Anglican leaders have shaped theology, church leadership, and society.
However, many of the key figures and movements, particularly within Anglican and Pentecostal traditions, remain under-documented, under-theorised, and insufficiently preserved in scholarly literature and archives. Recent doctoral and MPhil researches have demonstrated the value of biographical theology, mission history and empirical research as critical tools for understanding African Christianity, leadership and witness, also highlighting its contribution to knowledge, original use of primary sources, and relevance to African Christianity.
CAPAHT aim at collecting, preserving, and interpreting historical and theological heritage, while fostering research and leadership development. The Centre will be providing a structured, institutional platform for sustained research, archival preservation, mentorship, and publication.
